Guide: In +2

The +2 years fly by quickly. Balancing board exams while keeping an eye on your Bachelor's degree and entrance exams is crucial to avoiding a gap year (unless planned).

Grade 11: Exploration & Foundations

Build a strong foundation. The syllabus of Grade 11 makes up 40-50% of most competitive entrance exams (Engineering, Medical, IT).

What you should focus on:
  • Deep conceptual understanding, not just passing the boards.
  • Researching potential Bachelor's degrees.
  • Participating in extracurriculars if applying abroad later.

Grade 12: Execution & Entrance Prep

This is crunch time. You need to balance the NEB Grade 12 board exams while seriously preparing for standardized tests or university entrances.

What you should focus on:
  • Starting entrance prep early (don't wait for board results).
  • If going abroad: taking IELTS/PTE/SAT during early Grade 12.
  • Selecting target colleges and understanding their deadlines.

The "Nonsense" to Avoid

Many students fall into traps during their +2 years that cost them heavily in time and money later.

  • Bridge Courses for +2: Often an unnecessary expense; focus your funds and energy on Bachelor's entrance prep instead.
  • Waiting for Results: Thinking you can start preparing for competitive exams (IOE, IOM, Loksewa) only after Grade 12 results are published.
  • Following the crowd: Choosing Medicine, Engineering, or CA just because your peers are doing it.
